From the Classroom to Change: How a Brick Transformed My Vision of Teaching

Teaching means constantly searching for new languages. Here's how encountering the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method opened up a new path for transforming dialogue among desks, colleagues, and students.

There are moments in professional life when perspectives suddenly flip, revealing that the answer to complex questions was hiding in an unexpected place.

I've been teaching since 2017. For years I experienced school from the inside, trying to interpret its dynamics, its daily challenges, and that constant need to find new languages to connect with students and colleagues.

Then, in 2024, I discovered the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method, and it was at that moment - as I explored the various aspects of the methodology for the first time - that I decided to pursue specific training to become a facilitator.

From the Corporate World to the Classroom

At first, my gaze was turned elsewhere. The idea of becoming a certified facilitator was born from a desire to apply the method outside of school, in contexts where facilitation is already well established. But right as I was becoming familiar with corporate practice and understanding the real potential of LSP, something clicked, and I began to wonder: why not try bringing this approach exactly where the future is built - into our classrooms?

The Power of Enthusiasm and the Discovery of "Insights"

Deciding to experiment with the method in a school setting was a gamble, but the response exceeded every expectation, and the impact was immediate - I saw a contagious passion and a fresh outlook in the participants. In an environment often worn down by routine and bureaucratic constraints, these workshops began to reignite enthusiasm.

Through handling the bricks and building their own visual metaphors, teachers and students didn't just participate - they experienced genuine moments of revelation, generating deep insights that only emerge when a protected space for listening is created, free from judgment and hierarchical logic.

That's how I came to understand even more deeply the authentic essence of this project, where the value of the method lies as much in the design of the session itself as in what happens afterward. The real transformation is seeing how teachers, children, and young people - almost without realizing it - internalize the behaviors, openness, and reflections that emerged during the process, carrying them into everyday life. And in the end, that serious play leaves a concrete mark on how they communicate, relate to others, and perceive themselves.

A New Posture for Teachers, a New Approach for Students

Today my priority isn't simply to offer one more activity, but to help teachers develop a new educational posture while, at the same time, giving students the opportunity to build new relational tools and greater personal and social awareness.

There's no need to change everything overnight: it's enough to start pairing the transmission of content with moments dedicated to listening and valuing everyone's ideas.

When a teacher adopts this perspective, the overall classroom climate shifts - the class stops being a place of passive reception and becomes a space for genuine sharing, where trust is built and dialogue stays open.

My goal now is to keep bringing this methodology into schools, working side by side with colleagues and students. Because when people find a way to express what they think and to truly listen to one another, change in schools stops being a theory and becomes a daily practice.
